Æther Ore
Æther Ore was discovered around a decade after the Day of Embers by a Sand Dwarf by the name of Eeglan Olgror. Since that day, the ore has been studied pretty heavily though there is still much to be learned and some believe more types to be discovered. Æther Ore is forged into shapes that allow it to be added to certain magical items increasing existing effects or creating new ones.
While called ore, Æther Ore is more closely akin to gems since the essence is crystalized. In it's raw form, it is often quite irregular in shape much like an unformed gem. In this state the magic is unfocused and slightly unpredictable as well as not very powerful. A skilled æthersmith can forge the essence into something more focused with more predictable effects.
In addition to traditional æthersmiths, there is a very rare breed of them known as æther masters that are capable of also combining multiple ores into a single ore. These ores are incredibly strong and dynamic. Therefore they are also immensely expensive and one of the rarest things on Ærethis.
Aegis Ore
Generally the powers revolve around protection. Increasing defense of armor, making parrying easier with weapons, and other similar effects.
Cloud Ore
The powers of the ore deal with the mind. Sometimes they cloud and confuse, other times clarify or give insight. For battle they can be used to cause psychic damage.
Crystal Ore
Dealing with information and clarity, Crystal Ore grants hidden knowledge and allows seeing of the unseen. For example, it can offer truesight, scrying, and the ability to read languages.
Quiet Ore
While called Quiet Ore, it actually revolves around peace and order. The name quiet was coined as the ore can prevent chaos which is associated with noise.
Raw Ore
Being comprised of raw magical essence, Raw Ore appears to be made of shifting swirling colors in the shape of raw obsidian. It sparkles with the same shifting colors. As it is formed into a shape the colors will shift less and less depending on the effect and level of refining though they never become completely static.
Root Ore
This ore grants control over the elements such as fire, earth, thunder, etc.
Shadow Ore
Shadow Ore controls the elemental aspects of light and darkness. Some simple stones work as a simple light for the darkness or making small areas of shadow.
Trickster Ore
Trickster Ore is associated with chaos and randomness. The effect is often unknown until the ore is used.
